EAN·UCC系統是由国际货品編碼协会、该会各地分会,联同美國統一代碼委員會(UCC)已制定，为货品、服务及位置,提供识别及通讯工具，以改善供应链上可资讯流通，提高业务流程的效率，获得全球133個國家及地区约超過100萬家企業採用。於2005年1月开始，所有其會員可同時接納13數位的EAN/UCC-13編碼和UPC編碼。屆時所有北美洲/加拿大的零售商將可於銷售點掃瞄EAN·UCC編碼，讀取所需資料。倘 貴公司於美國/加拿大的客戶現階段未能採用13數位的EAN/UCC-13編碼， 貴公司可向本會申請UCC編碼。

EAN·UCC Numbering System is adopted by nearly 1000,000 corporates across 133 countries/economies. The UCC has established a sunrise date for its members to accept the 13-digit EAN/UCC-13 as well as the UPC at the point-of-sale no later than January 2005. All retailers in North America or Canada would be required to be able to scan and store EAN·UCC number. If your US/Canada customers affirm that they cannot accommodate the 13-digit data structure of EAN/UCC-13 at the moment, your company can apply a UCC Company Prefix from the HKANA.

The EAN/UCC Company Prefixes are issued on sequential basis, however, a company can choose its own specific Lucky Number for an additional one-time payment. The HKANA will assign a Lucky Number as the EAN/UCC Company Prefix of a member according to the price listed below:
